Module 1 · Architecture · Lesson 2
Durable, long-running agents
Real cases last weeks. How durable sessions, checkpoints, parked waits, retries and idempotency keys let an agent wait on the outside world and survive crashes and deploys without doing anything twice.
By the end of this lesson you can
- Explain sessions, turns, steps and checkpoints, and what replays after a crash in eve
- Design waits on external events (search results, replies, approvals, deadlines) that hold no compute
- Compute the expected duplicate side effects of a retry policy and remove them with idempotency keys and an outbox
- Decide what state belongs in the agent session and what belongs in the business's system of record
- Plan for deploys and model changes during long-lived sessions
